Dec 8: Carling Academy Oxford - Cowley Road, Oxford
Thanks to the people of Oxford for their great turn-out and enthusiastic
reception at this popular music venue in Oxford (complete with dry ice,
spinning lights and 'no crowd surfing' signs). Gundula also led a
workshop before the concert, teaching a Serbian tune to a group of fiddle
players. This concert was part of the Big Village series of music events

Nov 10: Union Chapel - Islington, North London
Our big concert of the year, in the spectacular setting of the Union Chapel.
Special guests were dancer Beverley Joffe (www.ishtar.moonfruit.com)

Nov 7: Resonance FM - London's art radio station, on 104.4fm
Gundula, Nick and Evrah presented a 'Clear Spot' special about the LGO,
playing recordings of music that inspire us and our choice of repertoire.
Oct 20: Brunswick Centre - Bloomsbury Festival, Central London
A private party for residents of the Brunswick Centre, on their huge
balcony, as part of the Bloomsbury Festival. We played a set from our
repertoire, followed by a ceilidh set with Toni Gutman leading Balkan
Oct 4: The Romanian Restaurant London
32 Old Bailey, in the City of London
A very busy and fun evening at this beautiful restaurant,
where the audience enjoyed Romanian food and lively music
from the LGO. This was a Club Zigana event organised by
Kazum - www.kazum.co.uk .
Sept 30: Gypsy Jam Session and Balkan Ceilidh
Favela Chic, Shoreditch, London
Our second all-playing, all-dancing event held at this sumptous venue.
Dancing was led by Toni Gutman, and music led by Gundula, with
Zivorad Nikolic on accordion, and further music from DJ Sacha.
Sept 29: Molten Diversity Arts Festival Launch Party
The Broadway, Barking, Essex
An afternoon event outside Barking's Broadway Theatre, featuring
music from a variety of cultures. In our set we were joined by dancer
Beverley Joffe who will be collaborating with us for some future events.

July 14: Inn on the Green - Ladbroke Grove, West London
Our second time playing at this venue's 'East Meets West' night.
Thanks to everyone for their great reception, including the baby at
the front who delighted everyone with her enthusiasm and constant

June 18: Alternatives Summer Solstice Celebration
St James Church, Piccadilly, Central London
A special summer solstice event held in the lovely historic church of
St James. The Alternatives team led song, storytelling, meditation
etc, followed by a set by the London Gypsy Orchestra, with everyone
else joining in some of the best and most enthusiastic dancing we've
seen. This event was part of the popular Alternatives series - see
May 26: Dorchester Festival, Dorset
The LGO performed for an audience of several hundred in the
sculptural 'Big White Tent', in the dramatic setting of the ancient
Maumbury Rings in central Dorchester. Following this, we played
tunes for a Balkan dance session led by Ljiljana Grkinic, all part of
the festival's emphasis on Eastern European culture this year.
We extended our Gypsy spirit to delighted co-passengers in our train
carriage on our return journey, though sadly SWT policy forbade us
from leading a dancing 'train' all the length of the train!
May 13: Gypsy Jam Session and Balkan Ceilidh at Favela Chic
The LGO hosted this lively music-making and dance event, in
Favela Chic's beautifully-decorated and characterful venue. Many
instrumentalists came to join the musicians of the LGO to play through
tunes led by Gundula Gruen, with Zivorad Nikolic on accordion.
Ljiljana Grkinic demonstrated and led dances, and there were also some
great performances as part of the open mic section. DJ Aidan Love

May 9: European Cultural Conference -
Europe Day reception at the Tate Modern, London
The LGO performed for culture ministers and representatives from
14 Eastern European EU member and candidate countries, at this
evening reception to mark Europe Day. This was part of the MayFair
conference organised by EUCLID and held at the Tate Modern, which
we also attended ourselves, to investigate possibilities for a cross-
European project for the orchestra.

April 27 : 'A Long(ing) Journey Across Europe'
School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London
A particularly enjoyable and energetic concert for the 300+ students,
staff and general public who packed the Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre
(and those patiently crowded outside the door!). This event was part of
SOAS's excellent series of concerts of music from around the world.

March 11: Cecil Sharp House - Camden, London
The Kennedy Hall was packed to capacity for our biggest concert yet.
Thanks to all who came and made it a great night, and also to our
