Gypsy Extravaganza, Union Chapel, Islington, London
Our big concert of the autumn in the spectacular space of the Union Chapel - this event featured our Gypsy Dance Group with their fantastic swirling skirts and exciting choreographies, as originally taught to us by Ricardo Marek Czureja, with our best new songs and tunes, and the successful premiere of our epic composition based on the tune 'Time'. Thanks to all who came for their enthusiastic and generous response.

Children's Concert, Trinity Centre, Dalston, East London
This was a special concert for children and their families, held in the lovely church hall of the Trinity Centre. We had a good turnout of enthuasiastic and lively but very well-behaved young people, who especially enjoyed the delightful puppet show by The Marionettears, with their busking puppets.
Here's a video of the puppet show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km-YAjSpi0o
Whole Foods, Stoke Newington
The LGO spent the day at the Whole Foods store in Stoke Newington Church Street, performing in small groups and meeting customers. This was as part of 5% day, in which the store chooses a charity or community group to be featured instore that day, and to receive 5% of the day's takings. We're very grateful to Whole Foods for their hospitality and donation to our funds.

Gypsy Culture Day - an all-day event organised by the LGO, which this year featured lots of special surprises - the superb Romany Diamonds (who have been teaching us the dances and tunes we performed at this event) and spectacular and colourful Gypsy dancing. The day included a dance workshop for families, a family concert, workshops in singing, art and dance, a delicious meal with great open mic performances, and a dramatic evening concert. The finale of the Gypsy-It! project: the groups who had been attending the music and dance classes with Ricardo Marek and Benjamin Czureja over the last 6 weeks demonstrated the marvellous pieces they had learnt. There were also performances from the LGO and others; Janna Eliot led the audience in dances, and marvellous solo dances were performed by Liljana Grkinic and Maria. Gypsy-It! and Gypsy Exchange
The LGO successfully won funding from both Grassroots Grants and Awards for All, with which to run two projects - one based in Hackney, to introduce local people to Gypsy culture through Gypsy music and dance, the other project involving classes in Gypsy music and dance taught by members of the Romany Diamonds, with costume-making sessions. We therefore had a busy start to the year, running the classes and events and learning new repertoire and skills.
